How to Tell You Need an Air Purifier to Go With Your Air Filtration System

Your home’s HVAC system has an air filter built in to help remove some particles from the air. This is a way to protect the inside of your heating and cooling system, but it also helps to improve your indoor air quality. However, your air filter can only do so much.

There’s a good chance that you need an air purifier in Weatherford, TX. Your indoor air quality can go downhill so slowly that you don’t even notice a difference until you’re more aware of the signs. But if you notice any of the four indicators below as poor indoor air quality, it may be time to install an air purifier to help your air filtration system.

1. Cold or Allergy Symptoms

If you have persistent cold or allergies symptoms, you may have a bigger problem with your indoor air quality. Symptoms that last longer than a couple of weeks are usually not an illness. While allergies could be to blame, there is still a solution. Examples of symptoms you should watch for include coughing, sneezing, feeling nauseous or dizzy, and having irritated sinuses, like your eyes, throat, and nose.

2. Skin Concerns

If your skin is dry, irritated, or you have unexplained rashes, your indoor air could be to blame. When you have pollutants and irritants trapped inside, they tend to recirculate over and over again. While you may not think about your skin being affected, it is. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and with the exception of being covered by clothes, it is always exposed to the air around you.

3. Lots of Dust

It’s completely normal to have to wipe down surfaces in your home on a regular basis. But if you find yourself dusting only to wake up a few days later and notice dust building up on your surfaces again, that is a problem. If you have more dust than is normal, your air filter may not be working as well as it should.

You might try changing the filter more often or buying a more heavy duty filter. But even that can only do so much. An indoor air purifier is a great way to ensure that more than 99% of the pollutants in your air get filtered out so that they never make it into your living spaces to begin with.

4. Bad Odors

If your air smells bad all the time, pollutants are probably to blame. It’s also possible that your air is just stale and hasn’t been circulated enough with fresh air. The air coming out of your HVAC system vents should never smell musty or concerning. If it does, then your air filtration system needs help. An indoor air purifier is a great way to give that extra boost to your indoor air quality so that your home can smell great no matter what.
